The Plaintiffs (the wife and daughter of the deceased), Cyril Quing, are claiming loss of dependency, bereavement, funeral expenses, and aggravated damages against one Mohd Hakim Bin Mohamed Khairuddin (1st Defendant), Pengarah Jabatan Perlindungan Hidupan Liar dan Taman Negara (Perhilitan) Negeri Sembilan (2nd Defendant), Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Perlindungan Hidupan Liar dan Taman Negara (Perhilitan) Semenanjung Malaysia (3rd Defendant) and Kerajaan Malaysia (4th Defendant). 

Cyril Quing was a ranger stationed in PERHILITAN Negeri Sembilan. He died on 29 August 2018 while on duty to exterminate monkeys at Kampung Durian Daun. Police investigation revealed that the head of operation, the 1st Defendant, negligently fired a shot that caused Cyril Quing's death. The Plaintiffs case is also premised on the ground that the Defendants failed to have in place and maintain proper standard operating procedure (SOP) leading to the mishap that caused Cyril his life. 

The case was filed before Seremban Session Court in July 2020 and after 3 years, the trial Court delivered its verdict yesterday (12th June 2023). Yazid & Co was appointed as Lead Counsel for the Plaintiffs.

The Court ordered the Defendants to pay RM 181, 807-00 in compensation which include award for loss of dependency, bereavement, and funeral expenses. The Court also ordered Defendants to pay RM 100,000-00 for aggravated damages.
